Back O My Hand

from The Weight Of These Things by Joel Eckels

/

about

My upright bass debut! I decided to take on the challenge of, not only playing my first bass track on an album, but my first upright bass track on an album. Upright is not easy, but it was fun as hell.

lyrics

BACK O MY HAND

It’s getting late and we don’t agree
Stop trying to put the blame on me
Not trying to start anything

Can’t really say what goes wrong
Or why we can’t get along
Or how you still turn me on

I never knew you could swing like that
You better never do it again
You make me want to turn it around,
but I'm not that kind of man

So, with the back o my hand
I’m writing you this song
Tried to love you but it took too long
Had your chance, but now it’s gone
Must be something that I said
It's always something that I said
I don't even know what I did

Cuz you either love me or love me not
What is it that you really want?
I'm not another man playing with your heart\

I always knew you were a tough girl
Daughter of a son of a gun
But I never knew you could swing like that
Tonight you'd better run
So, with the back o my hand
I’m writing you this song
Tried to love you but it took too long
Had your chance, but now it’s gone
